St James – Cheese of the Month

Our Cheese of the Month is St James.

It’s made by Martin Gott, one of the best young cheesemakers in Britain. He and his partner Nicola Robinson make this rich, rind-washed, deeply flavoured unpasteurised cheese with their own ewe’s milk.

Martin created and developed the cheese with the help of a man who himself dreamed up something the UK had been missing since the early 19th century: a proper cheese culture – Randolph Hodgson OBE, owner and Chairman of Neal’s Yard Dairy and winner of this year’s BBC Food & Farming Awards 2015, Lifetime Achievement Award.

Do have a taster of St James when you are next passing the deli!
