Cowdray Golf Club is looking to recruit a First Assistant Greenkeeper to join our existing dedicated team. This is a great opportunity for a qualified greenkeeper who is looking to advance their career.

Cowdray Golf Club is an exceptional downland course, playable all year round and boasts unrivalled views of the surrounding South Downs. The excellent condition and presentation of the course is testament to a committed team and due to the recent £1million course improvement project and build of a new Par 3 Course, an opportunity has arisen to join this team for the position of First Assistant Greenkeeper. The position is full time, (39 hours per week), and a flexible approach is required along with some weekend, (overtime) work, according to a rota system.

The successful candidate will contribute to the maintenance and development of the golf course, practice facilities and the communal areas and will be involved in various project work.

We are seeking a First Assistant Greenkeeper who has a positive attitude with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and progress their continuing professional development.

Applicants should possess or be working towards the following qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3
  • PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates
  • Chainsaw license

And be able to demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 5 years golf course experience
  • Knowledge in the use and maintenance of all greenkeeping equipment
  • Being an honest team player
  • Strong attention to detail in presentation and health and safety
  • Good time management and communication skills
  • An ability to problem solve and make effective decisions
  • A full and clean UK driving license
  • A sound golfing knowledge. Being a keen golfer is desirable
