Cheese of the Month

Our cheese of the month is Berkswell.

It’s made at the Fletcher family’s beautiful 16th century farmhouse, Ram Hall, near Berkswell in Warwickshire. They have their own flock of Friesland cross ewes and make their delicious cheese from the unpasteurised milk using a traditional rennet.

The flavour and texture is rich, sweet, fruity and nutty, sometimes with a fruity acidity that reminds us of pineapple, sometimes creamy and biscuity. The flavours are always long, deep and mouthfilling.  People often liken it to the Spanish Manchego or Italian Pecorino so do have a taste when you are next passing our deli.
