The Work of

Alister Maynard

Alister Maynard, Lady Cowdray’s grandfather, was a renowned interior designer and artist and collaborated with Oliver Messel amongst others. His unusual prints are available to buy from Cowdray Living, as is the fascinating publication “The Works of Alister Maynard”, compiled by Lady Cowdray.

In order to bring his striking designs to life, Cowdray Living has designed a number of items using his illustrations, which are available exclusively in the shop. These products include Stonemax chopping boards, which are non-porous and anti-bacterial and also heat resistant up to 120 degrees centigrade, as well as matching oven gloves, tea towels and aprons.

Cowdray Luxury

Lifestyle and Homeware

Slow-wax candles, which are made on the Estate along with beautiful reed diffusers, bath salts and drawer liners can be found in a variety of scents and fragrances. Cowdray umbrellas are also a popular purchase. These items make wonderful gifts and are available gift wrapped if required.

Working with

Local Artists

Cowdray Living stocks many creations from local artists including exquisite and unique Sally Marien porcelain, who has a studio in West Sussex, as well as a stunningly illustrated children’s book by local author Ginny Vere Nicoll and a tome on early flight by local writer Reg Winstone. Log racks made by Henry Williams are also available, produced in locally sourced Sussex wood.
