12.30pm – A Whistle-Stop Tour of Cowdray Ruins

Cowdray Ruins Visitor Centre

Take a whistle-stop walk and talk through the last 500 years of Cowdray Ruins, with one of our guides.

The experience will last for approximately 30 minutes and will include a visit to the front of Cowdray Ruins and the Tudor Kitchen.

Suitable for age 9 upwards. Please note, tours only include access to the front of Cowdray Ruins and the Kitchen

  1. What time should I arrive for the guided tours?

Please arrive 10 minutes before the tour and meet by the building called The Granary (it is the small building external to Cowdray Ruins).

  1. Is there parking?

There is no parking on site for guided tours. However there is a car park about a 5-7 minute walk away from Cowdray Ruins in North Street, Midhurst please see https://www.chichester.gov.uk/carparks#Ruralandcoastalcarparks

  1. Are the guided tours suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs?

The children’s tour will mainly be on a hard surface so should be suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. There is a step up to the Tudor kitchen and quite a tight turning circle to get into the kitchen which may preclude entry for both wheelchairs and pushchairs, however pushchairs can be left outside the kitchen if wished.

The other guided tours will include a mixture of tarmac and uneven grass surface so unfortunately may not be suitable for wheelchair users  please see comment about the Tudor Kitchen above).

  1. Where do the tours take place?

The tours take place in the immediate vicinity of Cowdray Ruins (with the exception of the Kitchen there is no access to Cowdray Ruins itself).  Please note that due to the nature of the site the ground may be uneven, we advise wearing sensible footwear.

  1. Are there toilets on site?

There are two toilets within the Visitor Centre for use of guided tour participants only.

  1. Are there any areas where I will need a face covering?

Face coverings will be required inside our buildings except for those with a medical exemption. Face coverings are not required for children under the age of 11.

  1. Do I need to book a ticket in advance?

All tickets will need to be booked in advance.
