Step into the English Civil War at the spectacular Cowdray Ruins for a day packed with live action, hands-on experiences and living history.
Watch muskets and cannon fire, meet soldiers and historic characters, explore authentic military camps and discover traditional crafts from the 17th century.
Children can join our Young Recruits’ Drill, learning simple military exercises using child-sized equipment.

12.00pm – Young Recruits’ Drill
Children can become part of the action with a hands-on military drill using child-sized equipment.
12.45pm – Live Cannon Demonstration
Watch the cannon crew load and fire one of the day’s most spectacular displays.
2.45pm – The Battle for Cowdray
See Parliamentarian forces seize the house in a dramatic re-enactment.
Throughout the day, wander through the military camp, meet the reenactors, watch traditional crafts in action and experience everyday life during the English Civil War.
