Gong Nidra at Cowdray Hall
Yoga Nidra is an ancient practice which enables the participants to reach a deep sense of relaxation. The term nidra means sleep but during the session, you are fully awake and the mind is active but the body is completely still and rested. This state of relaxed awareness can be very therapeutic and can help with a range of conditions such as insomnia, stress and anxiety.
The session involves a guided meditation which is accompanied by a range of low-toned gongs merged together to provide a peaceful sonic landscape. The session takes place in the tranquil and beautiful setting of Cowdray Hall, Midhurst.
No previous experience is necessary, and everything will be explained in advance.
You will need to bring a yoga mat, pillow, 2 blankets, an eye covering and a bottle of water. It is important that you are comfortable and warm, so bring whatever you need.
Jez Smith is a historical musician with over 35 years experience, and is a qualified sound therapist from BAST and COSH. As a hearing impaired musician he has developed multi-sensory ways of listening which come through in the soundbaths to produce a different experience from many other sound practitioners, one which allows deep meditation and relaxation.
The sessions are not normally suitable for people with seizures, epilepsy, heart conditions or early stages of pregnancy but frequently these conditions can be addressed on an individual basis and a solution found. If you have any queries or special requirements for the session, please contact me in advance on: email@example.com.
