Life on the Estate: July

July

In front of a large crowd, Dubai secured the prestigious Cowdray Gold Cup Trophy on Sunday 21st July after securing victory against La Dolfina Great Oaks on the manicured Lawns Polo Fields having narrowly missed out on the Gold Cup in 2023.

Played in perfect weather, with the sun shining and light clouds in the sky, the two teams battled it out with Dubai winning 11 goals to 3 to be crowned champions of the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup. Spectators dressed in colourful summer attire lined the side of the pitch to watch world class polo players in action on their highly skilled ponies.

This marked the end of a very successful Gold Cup tournament, however there are plenty more matches taking place on Lawns and Ambersham throughout the rest of the summer months.

The Par 3 Course is now very much in use at Cowdray Golf. The greens on the 5-hole course along with the new practice chipping area were constructed as part of an extensive improvement project at the club. Along with the same bunkering and rough grasses as the main course 10 trees were transplanted to further add to the landscape of the course. This year-round facility offers golf to a wider audience and is also a fantastic added benefit for existing members. Find out more.

The final Run the Seasons Race has taken place at Cowdray. The races culminated on a sunny summer’s evening at the end of June where runners enjoyed racing around Lawns polo fields through beautiful countryside to the picturesque Ambersham Common.

Around 350 runners took part in the last of a series of four races in autumn, winter, spring and summer which showcased different areas of the Estate at all times of year. After the summer race, prizes were presented and a fun Asado was held for both participants and spectators.

There are more races taking place at Cowdray to include the Maize Maze Run, on Monday 26th August, and the course will include various sections of the maze as well as the sunflower and wildflower meadow.
