Spring Supper at Cowdray House

Spring has sprung!

It looked and smelt like spring had sprung in Buck Hall last week when guests of Rhubarb Food were welcomed for an overnight stay at Cowdray House. The most stunning floral designs by Mary Jane Vaughn were on display throughout the reception rooms and set the tone perfectly for the evening ahead.

The experience began with The Dog and Duck Show which was organised by Firebird Events and led to much laughter from guests as they herded the birds around the House cricket pitch. Le Chameau wellington boots were also available for guests to enjoy throughout their stay. A scrumptious Afternoon Tea followed. Served in the Drawing Room the Rhubarb team excelled themselves with a spread of delicious sweet and savoury treats. Guests were later shown to one of their individually designed, luxurious bedrooms before changing into evening wear ready for the champagne reception where delicious canapes were served.

An exceptional four-course dinner was enjoyed by all. The menu consisted of La Latteria burrata to start, Isle of Mull langoustine with braised oxtail and parmesan risotto, a main course of Cumbria lamb saddle served with yoghurt and pea puree, pommes Anna rainbow chard and pickled golden beets and ‘The Cracked Egg’ to finish; a coconut foam, mango sphere gel, coconut tapioca, coconut and lime sorbet with fresh mango.

Fabulous live music from Empire band followed in the Morning Room where Espresso Martini’s and petit fours were on offer for all to enjoy well into the night.

The following morning in the beautiful wood panelled dining room, a delicious breakfast was served once again by Rhubarb. The spring table décor continued from the night before.
