Sunset Polo & Gatsby Party at Cowdray House

The inaugural UK Sunset Polo & Gatsby Party took place at Cowdray House last week. Organised by Nic Roldan, a top American polo player, the event raised money for the equestrian charity Brooke and local children’s hospice Chestnut Tree House.

The afternoon consisted of an equestrian display by Monty Roberts, world renowned natural horseman, and a Western reining display by Tammy Greaves. The crowd watched while Nic Roldan and other top professionals played in a polo match, this was then followed by a celebrity chukka. Celebrity players included three-day eventer William Fox-Pitt, National Hunt jockey Leighton Aspell, Olympic gold medal cyclist Victoria Pendleton, Wocket Woy and the UK’s top showjumper Scott Brash.

Awards were presented by Jonathan Russell, and included best Playing Pony (pictured above) who was ridden by Rufi Merlos, the youngest player on the field. Earlier in the day Jeep, one of Nic’s sponsors, filmed Nic and William Fox-Pitt in a ‘Job Swop’ scenario and also shot footage of them off-roading in Jeeps across the estate.

After the awards were presented, 150 guests went on to a VIP dinner and auction in Cowdray House.
