National Ice Cream Day with Ice Queens

Ice Queens was set up by Dan and his partner in 2019 in Hove serves over 30 flavours of delicious ice cream sourced from a family-run UK dairy at weddings and events. Come summer the Ice Queens Trike is a common sight at Cowdray House and The Walled Garden during wedding season. What better way to celebrate National Ice Cream Day than with a quick Q&A with Ice Queens on everything ice cream and weddings including popular flavours for 2023-24 season.

  1. What inspired you to set up Ice Queens?

I had always wanted to set up my own business and make use of all the fantastic customer service skills I had learnt as cabin crew, so when I saw my first trike that was for sale, I knew straight away that I was going to enjoy serving from it and making it my own. We also had ice cream at our wedding as dessert, which formed part of my inspiration.

  1. What do you most enjoy most about coming to Cowdray?

Cowdray is such a special place. There’s something quite magical about it and it is quintessentially English. When we were asked to be official suppliers I was over the moon and am so proud to have served at some fantastic weddings at both Cowdray House and The Walled Garden.

3. Do you have any memorable moments at Cowdray?

One of our first weddings at Cowdray was at the house. The most delightful couple who were having a Sunday party the day after their wedding. The rosé wine flowed, and they had even flown a DJ in from Ibiza! It was spectacular and how can you beat the backdrop of Cowdray House?

4. What are your most popular flavours?

You can’t beat a clotted cream vanilla (perfect with a berry station in The Walled Garden) but this year has seen a resurgence in the 80’s classic mint choc chip. However, for me, I’m still in love with salted caramel.

5. Any top tips for couples on their wedding journey?

It’s cliché but enjoy every minute. It goes so quickly! If there is a supplier you want (including me!) then book them when you can, don’t delay, as people get booked up earlier and earlier I find.
