Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course (MBSR)
Duration: 8 Week MBSR course plus orientation session
Date: 23 January to 27 March on Tuesdays 7pm to 9pm and all day on Saturday 24 March 2018
Location: Cowdray Hall (Chapel), Parkway, Easebourne, Midhurst GU29 0AW, West Sussex
Fee: £250 including all sessions, 5 recordings of guided mindfulness practices and a workbook.

The MBSR course is based on the original programme of Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD, with added elements of MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, co-developed by Professor Mark Williams of Oxford University).
This programme is evidence-based with a coherent structure for anyone caring about their physical and mental wellbeing.
Throughout the 8 week course participants will learn and explore:
- A range of mindfulness practices easily applicable in our fast-paced world.
- Meditations with recordings provided, ranging from 3 to 40mins
- Exercises aimed at becoming aware of the workings of our mind, noticing our habitual thought patterns and automatic pilot.
- Lifelong skills enabling us to release these unhelpful habits, beliefs, self-criticism.
- Developing greater awareness, stillness, compassion for oneself and others, resulting in more skilful responses to our emotions and to life’s challenges.
- The effects of stress on the body and how to reduce stress and anxiety
- Bringing mindfulness in your daily life in a practical way and adapted to your situation.
Scientific researchers have proven the benefits of practicing mindfulness and meditation including: stress and anxiety reduction – coping better with physical pain and illnesses – better sleep – reduction of high blood pressure – strengthening the immune system – greater appreciation of life and of the present moment – Increased compassion for oneself and others – Greater clarity of mind, concentration, work efficiency and better communication.
This course is facilitated by Sandrine Cranswick, an experienced mindfulness teacher with over 25 years of daily practice. Sandrine has completed her teacher training with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University and is registered on the UK Network for Mindfulness Teachers.
